Homeland security issues, together with the threat of terrorism, are placing operators of petroleum liquids and natural gas pipelines - particularly utilities - under the Federal microscope. The events of 9/11, combined with actual, reported pipeline incidents in Washington , New Mexico , and Maryland , bring this safety issue to the forefront.
